Shopping
The vibrant Uckfield High Steet has a very wide range of retail choices, some of which trade in specialist products.
To the bottom of the town, on the banks of the River Uck is an attractive pedestrianised shopping area, Bell walk, which includes a café/restaurant
There is ample free parking throughout the town
The Lavender Line
A classic railway museum with many small artefacts displayed in the former goods office. Isfield Station has been restored to early Southern Railways colours and looks very much as it would have donw in the early 1900's. There is a buffet car, souvenir shop, picnic areas, and ride on original steam locomatives. Highly educational for the younger gerneration, and a lovely day out.
Nutley Windmill
Situated on the Ashdown Forest, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and close to Uckfield, the open trestle post mill is the oldest working windmill in Sussex, thougt to be late 17th Century. The mill is open on the last Sunday of each month during March to September, 2.30 till 5.30 pm, Entry free, but dontions welcome.
